A Glorious Heritage of Servant Leadership at PCC Ntaghem
P.C. Ntaghem is situated in Ntambessi quarter in Nkwen. Since 1938, when the church started as a prayer cell, it has its current location as its third site. A certain Mami Maria Bilh Fuh and two other women came from Bafut and started the prayer cell at Ntasen. Joined by some members who came as far as from Ntaghem, the cell grew until the Christians from Ntaghem outnumbered those of Ntasen. With this growth, the church had moved from Ntasen where it was a prayer cell to somewhere near Pa John Ngu Foncha’s present house and then to its present site. The Fon of Nkwen, then Bafrenggave them a piece of land which today is the site of PCC Ntaghem, placed under the custody of one Mr. Chi Aoudou Bande, former soldier in the German army, the piece of land which today is the site of this church. It was maintained with a Christian population of about ten. The church maintained the name Ntambessi until 1965, when Mr. Azibo John, who had joined the congregation, corrected the name to P.C. Ntaghem.
The Presbyterian Church Ntaghem was born out of a deep spiritual yearning within the Ntaghem community—a desire to plant a congregation grounded in Reformed Christian values, communal worship, and holistic mission. From modest gatherings in the early days to its establishment as a full parish, the church’s history is a testament to divine providence, community resilience, and visionary leadership.
